Toronto's Blue Jays earned a spot in their initial Fall Classic following 1993 by defeating the Seattle Mariners in the decisive seventh game of the American League Championship Series.

Trailing three runs to one, outfielder George Springer hit a three-run blast in the seventh inning, leading the Toronto squad in Major League Baseball to a 4-3 win in the best-of-seven series. They will now face the Dodgers, who are the current crown, in the upcoming Fall Classic.

"I'm thrilled for our team, our city, our country," said Springer, a star of the Houston Astros team that secured the 2017 title. "It's truly an unbelievable moment."

The veteran has now slugged twenty-three post-season home runs, placing him third in history trailing only Manny Ramirez (29) and Altuve (twenty-seven).

"It's hard to imagine anyone else in the world that I'd choose in that spot other than him with his playoff prowess," remarked manager John Schneider.

The Mariners, despite leading the series two games to none and three games to two, continue to be the only MLB franchise never to appear in a championship series.

Wilson said "certainly that it's going to sting" in the wake of his club's elimination at Rogers Centre, but applauded their efforts this season.

"This is a unique group. It's a shame that we had to come out on the wrong side of this one," he continued.

Toronto claimed the title on their two prior appearances in the early 90s, and will welcome the Dodgers in the first game on the upcoming Friday.
