The network's Premier Fresh Series of 2025 Secures a Substantial Renewal for an Additional Two Seasons.

In October of last year, Adult Swim debuted a new season of its quirky hit, Smiling Friends. However, not long after, the channel unveiled a completely new animated series with a distinctly unique feel. Haha, You Clowns proved to be gentle and comforting, reminiscent of a animated take of a laid-back talk show. In an era often marked by bleakness, this show's earnestness found an audience and helped it become a breakout hit.

A Two-Season Greenlight

On December 18th, the network confirmed a big renewal: Haha, You Clowns has been renewed for two additional seasons. This gives showrunner Joe Cappa a massive runway to further explore the world of the Campbell family. The series centers on three polite teenage brothers whose central trait is their deep love for their widowed father, with Cappa voicing for all four central characters.

"My deepest thanks go to the audience of the show who took a chance on the show and helped it grow," stated Cappa. "I am overjoyed that I get to spend more time in the Campbell household for the foreseeable future."

A President's Endorsement

Accompanying the news laudits from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who described the series as "radically heartfelt and strangely uncanny." He thanked the fans who embraced the show and championed its uniquely offbeat appeal.

"All of you supported this new show, rooted for it on social media, and grew it week over week so we could greenlight not one, but two more seasons," noted Ouweleen. "As the show says: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Wholesome Alternative

Upon its debut, Haha, You Clowns was praised as "a wholesome alternative" to more cynical adult animated fare. Viewers found something deeply soothing about watching this endearing family navigate their daily lives.

In earlier interviews, creator Joe Cappa shared his hope to evolve comedy past its current sarcastic tone. He traced this trend to a broader media landscape.

“There's this level of irony that we keep returning to,” noted Cappa. “It's like we have to know we’re the cleverest viewer in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for 10 years, and we just have to laugh at something different now. The genre needs to change.”

The Path Forward

Given this two-season order, with Haha, You Clowns set to continue, Cappa has the opportunity to be part of that comedic shift. If nothing else, the renewal promises audiences a little more time to experience the gentle humor of the endearing Campbell clan.

The first season's conclusion of Haha, You Clowns airs on December 21st. All episodes is available for streaming on HBO Max.
