Tottenham Hotspur fans who jeered goalkeeper Vicario were told later "they can't be true Tottenham supporters" by boss Frank.

Tottenham let in a pair of goals in the first six minutes to lose 2-1 to Fulham, registering their 10th top-flight home loss of 2025.

But the primary topic of discussion was the visitors' second score when the keeper gave away the ball well beyond his box.

The goalkeeper ventured out to handle a long ball and took the ball near the touchline.

But, rather than kicking it into touch, the Italy international spun and tried to clear, but slipped as the ball skimmed off Harry Wilson and was controlled by Josh King.

King laid the ball off to Welsh midfielder Wilson, who bent a shot into the net from the touchline measured at 36.6 metres.

Moments later when the ball came to the keeper once more, some Spurs supporters booed him.

Spurs were jeered off at half-time, with the side 2-0 behind, and again at full-time.

A particular of those jeering episodes truly angered Frank.

"I heard some of our fans reportedly booed the situation and jeered following, which, in my opinion is completely unacceptable," the Dane stated about the fans' response to his shot-stopper.

"Those individuals can't be true Tottenham supporters that do that. Fair enough jeering after the match, fine, but when we are playing, we are backing each other, we are with each other moving ahead."

Tete had handed Fulham a early lead before Harry Wilson's goal – with Mohammed Kudus scoring for Tottenham in an better second period showing.

Ex- Premier League goalkeeper Hart remarked that the next score was "completely preventable".

"I do appreciate the supporters' disappointment," Hart added. "I know the role the keeper is performing. He's a excellent squad member, he is a true leader in the locker room but ultimately you are going to be assessed by your actions.

"He was heavily involved in what ended up to be the winning goal."

'It's In the Game, I'm a Big Man'

Italy international Vicario is in his 3rd season with Spurs.

The 29-year-old stated following the match that he had to take the criticism.

"That goal was a error of mine, I accept accountability for that," he said.

"The intent was to clear the ball long and I simply struck the ball in a bad manner. That made an even bigger mountain to climb."

He said receiving jeers "comes with football".

"I'm a big man, what can I say?" he continued. "We cannot be affected by the situation in the stands. Supporters have the entitlement to do as they see fit.

"It's on the team to remain increasingly calm, to concentrate on ourselves. The team is lacking in calmness and poise to overturn results. Today is a bad defeat and it is tough to take."

'I Was Surprised No One Returned to the Line'

Despite the keeper's mistake, it was far from an easy goal for Wilson to score.

Actually it was the second longest-range top division score of the season – following Adams' forty-three point three metre goal for Bournemouth against Sunderland, which interestingly also occurred on the same day.

Wilson said he was "a little bit surprised" that he still had an empty net to target.

10 seconds elapsed between the keeper coming out of his area and Wilson shooting – which was five seconds after the kick.

"I felt like the goalkeeper was away from the area for a long time," Wilson remarked.

"It amazed me not one of the defenders went back to the line. When none of them defended the goal, my interest sparked a bit.

"[Destiny] Udogie slipped as well, which gave me a bit of additional time. After that it was all about attempting to achieve the correct connection and get it on target. I felt a positive sense, as soon as it came off my boot, that it was on the right line."

'During in a Poor Run, Everything Seems to Go Against You'

While the keeper's error dominated headlines, this was an overall poor performance for Tottenham to continue their home woes.

This was their 10th at home defeat of the year in the Premier League, a joint club record along with nineteen ninety-four and 2003.

The side still have home fixtures against Frank's former club the Bees and champions Liverpool to come prior to the end of the year.

Just a single of those victories have occurred since the manager took over from his predecessor in the summer.

"If you are behind 2-0 following six minutes, there is a huge challenge to climb," stated the boss.

"When you're in a bad spell, everything appears to work against you too – the first was a deflected attempt, the next is a mistake from the keeper.

"This result leaves us in a place where we have lost an additional match. Every game has a unique narrative, today we were defeated in the early stages.

"We simply need to keep working. The second half was significantly improved and with luck an aspect we can utilize to develop."

Spurs have lost 4 straight home London derbies for the first time in the Premier League.

And they are recording 9.5 shots and 3.2 efforts on goal per match in the Premier League – their lowest rates on record in a single campaign (since at least 2003-04).

Ex- Fulham midfielder Murphy commented that the manager has to endure the criticism.

"He must accept the criticism," the pundit said. "He has accepted a high profile role at a major football club with enormous anticipation. There is pressure and responsibility that comes with that.
