Filipino President Ferdinand Marcos Jr has declared a state of emergency - which is triggered by numerous deaths, extensive property destruction, and disruption to means of livelihoods and daily routines for people in the affected areas.

This powerful storm, known locally as Tino, ripped through the populous island of Cebu, inundating whole settlements and carrying vehicles down roads.

Tens of thousands of people were forced to evacuate, while some are sheltering in emergency shelters.
