Nigel Farage Claims Teachers of ‘Indoctrinating Children’ on Race Issues

Nigel Farage has asserted that educators would initiate walkouts within weeks a success at the polls for his party, charging that they are “poisoning our kids” by instructing students that African-Caribbean youth are oppressed and white children oppressors.

At a gathering for a private US Christian college, the politician expressed his perspective on British schools, claiming that the “Marxist left” had “now in control of our education system”.

“I’m anticipating a teachers’ strike very quickly after securing a victory,” Farage commented during a Q&A session.

“They are corrupting young minds. They instruct children to feel guilt about their nation. They inform little Johnny, who’s eight, who is black that he is a victim and little Oliver, who is white, who is eight that he is an oppressor. They are dividing us, instead of fostering unity. They promote this negative culture.”

In response to these assertions, the head of a major education union rejected the idea that the schools were under Marxist influence as “absurd”. He pointed out that any strikes must relate to teachers’ terms and conditions, and questioned whether the party would target these right after taking office.

“The politician has crafted his political career on coded rhetoric and now, similar to other figures, he is targeting educators and their unions for a conflict,” the union leader said.

“I think that’s grossly irresponsible. Neither I nor our union – push critical race theory as he’s suggesting … If he were to lead the government he would sell out our public services, including education … and the outcome would be catastrophic for education and children.”

The party, which is leading the polls by about 10 points, has provided limited specifics on its educational plans and seems not to have appointed an education spokesperson.

However, Farage’s remarks suggested the group would reform the system and the curriculum. Farage declared: “We have got a massive job with education – truly monumental. And, it won’t happen quickly; it requires years, years to turn this around.”

He stated that younger generations are receptive to critical thinking, but millennials were “absolutely hopeless”.

Honoring a conservative activist, he commented: “All I want education to do to foster independent thought – to instruct people that multiple perspectives exist and they should decide for themselves as opposed to what’s happening now where one is virtuous and one is evil. This is a huge undertaking in the UK and US.”

Reform has previously clashed with a major educators’ organization, after the union leader labeled them “far right and racist” and described the leader as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.

Farage has accused Kebede of being “an avowed radical” … an individual intent that young minds be corrupted through education, their minds should be poisoned regarding national issues” and maintained that the union is trying to indoctrinate youth opposed to his party.

Almost one million people work in schools in the UK, with educators comprising half and the remainder being assistants and administrative personnel. The leading teachers’ organization has hundreds of thousands of members.

Countrywide walkouts over teacher pay and conditions in 2023 led to significant interruptions in schools and extensive missed instruction for children.

At the US event, the Reform leader also vowed to promote the digital courses of the institution in the UK. He stated such groups were “key to resistance”, noting: “I am serious. I will help garner hundreds of thousands, if not millions of youth to these educational programs. I make that commitment now and I’ll do that.”

The institution, a small private Christian college, offers free courses. Its website states: “A scientific, literary, theological, political, and moral education is vital for well-being and to maintain the benefits of freedom. It offers these excellent programs for no charge to all who wish to learn.”
