The Red Devils' women's team has completed a major addition by acquiring Germany national team striker Lea Schuller who joins from the Bundesliga champions.

The experienced forward, who put pen to paper on a deal that will keep her at the club until June 2029, marks the team's second signing of the winter transfer period, following the signing of full-back Hanna Lundkvist.

A Proven Winner

Schuller spent five years at Bayern Munich, making over 100 appearances and playing a key role in the team claim four Bundesliga championships.

On the international stage, her statistics is similarly impressive, with 54 strikes in 82 caps for Germany.

"From the first conversations that I had with head coach Marc Skinner and the club, the ambitions of everyone involved were very clear," commented Schuller.

She featured in the squad that finished as runners-up to England at the 2022 European Championship and later won a third-place finish at the 2024 Olympic Games.

Perfect Fit

"I still have so much that I want to achieve in my career, and I believe that Manchester United is the perfect environment to join," Schuller continued.

"I feel that the way the team plays of football will be a great fit for my style of play. I am confident my attributes and know-how can help us to achieve our objectives both in England and in the Champions League."

Matt Johnson, Man Utd's director of women's football, remarked: "Her scoring prowess is outstanding, her style of play will give our attack an dynamic new edge.

"Lea's winning mentality and pedigree will be invaluable for our ambitious and youthful team as we keep developing together and challenge across domestic and European competitions."

Building for the Future

The club hope to be busy in the remaining weeks of the window as boss Marc Skinner seeks to bolster his team for the latter stages of the top European competition.

They have already agreed a contract extension with key playmaker Hinata Miyazawa, who has agreed through to the end of the decade.
