The initial step to check the location of where the pictures originated was based on posts indicating the explosion happened on Yasenevaya Ulitsa in the southern district of the capital city of Russia. We used panoramic mapping services on digital map platforms and the local mapping service Yandex to match the unique yellow hue of a nearby residential complex seen in the footage. Identifying additional structures, lamp-posts and the street layout verified the exact location the footage were taken. Additionally, we verified that the video clips were new and that the visuals had not undergone digital alteration.
