The British heavyweight repeated his provocative comments about being prepared to “kill” his opponent during a media gathering in Florida on Wednesday.

His words were first made on the previous day when Joshua was questioned if he would show restraint against Paul, replying that “if I can kill you, I'll kill”.

The upcoming bout against the YouTuber-turned-boxer has sparked criticism over the risk involved and the size difference between the two athletes.

Ex- titleholder The Gypsy King labeled Joshua a “classless loser” for his extreme comments.

But the 36-year-old fighter, defended his stance: “This is my profession, we fight. We have a licence to kill.

“I understand many people don't grasp it but this is what my job is. I just enjoy what I do. The outcome, happens - as long as my hand is held high, that's what's paramount, with all due respect.”

He stated, “That's just the psychology we have to have as fighters. I'm unsure if other boxers think that way. Maybe they're a bit more conservative. The way my mind works. When you're in the ring, it's a risky thing. Everything can happen.”

“You hope your adversary leaves the ring safely, but if they don't, you still have to go to bed aware you just did your job. It was not personal.”

Jake Paul's Fiery Response

Jake Paul, a massive outsider in the fight as a natural lighter fighter, was no less incendiary in his reply.

“This is a contemporary gladiator sport,” Paul stated. “I'm ready. I want his most powerful punches. I want there to be zero excuses when it's all over. Let's kill each other.”
